Reading And Navigation
- Use clear page titles, short headings, and direct labels for buttons and links.
- Keep important information in text, not only in images or color.
- Make links descriptive enough to understand out of context.
- Group related content so users can scan pages quickly.
Keyboard And Focus
Interactive controls should be reachable by keyboard and show a visible focus state. Avoid layouts that require hover-only actions, tiny tap targets, or unclear icons without labels or tooltips.
Color And Contrast
- Use strong contrast between text and background.
- Do not rely on red, green, or any single color as the only signal.
- Keep status messages readable and pair color with labels or icons when possible.
Content Standards
Announcements and instructions should use plain language, complete dates, and enough context for students who may read them later. Avoid long blocks of text when a short list is easier to follow.
Reporting Barriers
If a page is hard to read, navigate, understand, or use with assistive technology, report the issue to an SSLG officer, adviser, or dashboard administrator. Include the page name, device, browser, and a short description of what happened.
